A Poem for You

If I knew it would be the last time
that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I’d walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and then run back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would know I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
And we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
And you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry," "Thank you,"
"Please forgive me," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

A Lullaby for you

Sweet and low, sweet and low,
Wind of the western sea,
Low, low, breathe and blow,
Wind of the western sea!
Over the rolling waters go,
Come from the dying moon, and blow,
Blow him again to me;
While my little one, while my little ones sleeps.

Sleep and rest, sleep and rest,
Father will come to thee soon;
Rest, rest, on mother's breast,
Father will come to thee soon;
Father will come to his babe in the nest,
Silver sails all out of the west
Under the silver moon:
Sleep, my little one, sleep, my pretty one, sleep.

By Alfred Tennyson

This evening my husband and I sat in lawn chairs right at the edge of one of our ponds (the little one). I had our 4 year old son, David, on my lap. The other children were busy playing around us. The sky darkened and we could see the moon shining brightly. Two moons; one was in the sky and one was on the water. David giggled because when we threw a stone in the pond the "moon on the water bounced". It was a lovely evening full of the sounds of our loved ones, the night-time peepers, and the smell of concord grapes.

Good to be Home

I am creating this blog so that I can comment on my friend's blogs.

I am a stay-at-home mom of five. My husband and I have been married for 12 years. I love my life, I love doing what I believe is God's will for me--to be a wife and mother.

In my journal, I have copied down these "Hints for Homemakers":

*Be creative
*Enjoy each task
*Organize
*Motivate yourself
1. Put plans on paper
2. Remind myself of benefits
*Avoid procrastination
*Set deadlines
*Promise myself rewards
*Give myself the right to make a mistake. Keep laughing!
*Be flexible
*Bring faith into the kitchen and into every room.
